About Arteffects

Arteffects is the story of a friendship, a friendship between Cheryl and Robyn. The two met through their involvement in providing mental health services to the community of Stevens Point and quickly became friends.

Cheryl had previously owned an art consignment shop in Adams County and saw the potential to collaborate with her new friend to create a similar destination in Stevens Point.

In 2016, fueled by this vision, the duo went to check out some newly-available commercial space tucked away in Artisan Alley. At Cheryl’s urging Robyn left with a signed lease, and that was the beginning of Arteffects.

Today, Arteffects is committed to its mission of showcasing and elevating the beauty in unexpected and underrepresented people, places, and things, and we do through the sale of consignment art, gourmet local foods, refurbished furniture, and antiques & collectibles.

Stop by and visit us at our cozy little home in Artisan Alley!

I started watercolor painting at age 40 because I wanted to try something new.  I found it relaxing and satisfying to create.  I like trying new ways of incorporating other media into my watercolor art.  I love nature, photography, animals and volunteering at Portage County Health Care Center.  Art expresses who we are at the core and invites others to find what lies beneath their surface.

Deanna Van Grinsven

I've been doing crafty things ever since my sister taught me how to cross stitch on my doll's pillow case when I was little.  I enjoy various kinds of needlework, most recently quilting.  I also enjoy experimenting with alcohol inks and other mediums.

I'm a third generation quilter and like my grandma, I am forever planning the next project.  I love to try new patterns and picking out fabric is one of my favorite things to do.  I especially love creating quilts with vintage fabric.

Kay Coates

I taught myself to sew when I was 18. I had two young sons and needed to find a hobby. Sewing filled the bill. It was fun and relaxing, and I enjoyed the learning process. Made many mistakes and learned. It was exciting to watch how my choice of material and a pattern turned out. I still enjoy trying out new ideas.

I recently painted the tomb of Jesus on a piece of konadolamite, which is 2.2 billion years old. I gave it to my mom's pastor and he was so grateful that someone would do that for him. That's what started me painting on rocks, to bring smiles to everyone.
